The creation of the Chakra series came from a time away in a solo retreat. I find this is where my best work usually comes about, and sure enough, as I meditating with a question of how to create in order to serve. What to create that will not only be beautiful but will also heal. I got the vision of the Chakras.
Now what was interesting at this point was that while being a yogini for 8 years I never had delved deep into the Chakras before, and so initially I found a bit of hesitation within me – my inner critic voice popped up and said but you don’t know enough about the Chakras.
But as I sat with these feelings, I tuned into the love rather than the fear and saw this would be a journey of learning and discovery for me as much as for others.
So I began to meditate on the Chakras – tuning into the energy centres within my body and then specifically on each Chakra at a time and then followed by creating a work based on that Chakra. As I continued with the process I started to dive deeper and deeper into the Chakras and have really uncovered a whole world that I actually felt was really missing in terms of a structure for the emotional and developmental stages that one experiences and goes through in life. As I worked with them I got to become more familiar with the subtleties that existed within the Chakras and realised this was quite a big area that I was beginning to get into.
Lastly, I would find when I would work on the second part of the process which was drawing on top I would receive healing from those pieces and whichever one I was working on that particular chakra began to strengthen.
My intention has always been to provide tools for healing for enquiry and so my hope with this series is to do that.
